A nanny can assist with:

What a nanny is not:

A nanny is not a cleaner or housekeeper. Their primary responsibility is the care, safety and wellbeing of your children, providing dedicated in-home childcare rather than general household services.

Nannies can assist with light household tasks that are directly related to the children, but general deep cleaning and housekeeping are outside the scope of a typical nanny role. When childcare and household duties overlap, the children's needs, safety and emotional wellbeing will always come first.

Nanny weekday rates for professional in-home childcare

• 2-3 years experience: $35-36 /hr + superannuation (12%) + leave entitlements based on experience.
•  4 years + experience: $38-45 /hr + superannuation (12%) + leave entitlements based on experience.

A household manager can work as a stand-alone role or as a hybrid position that combines household management with nannying. They take the pressure off the everyday tasks that keep family life running smoothly. Household Managers provide practical, hands-on support to help keep the home organised, stocked and running smoothly, creating more time and headspace for family life.

Depending on your family's needs, support from a Household Manager may include:

• Family laundry, including washing, folding and putting clothes away
• Preparing and cooking healthy, family-friendly meals
• Grocery shopping, pantry restocking and household errands
• Light housekeeping and general tidying of shared spaces
• Fridge and pantry clean-outs and ongoing organisation
• Seasonal clothing changeovers and wardrobe organisation for the children
• Tidying and organising children's bedrooms, playrooms and toy storage areas
• Scheduling appointments, activities and extracurriculars for the children
• Dry cleaning drop-offs, collections and basic wardrobe management
• Helping plan and coordinate family events, birthdays and special occasions
• Assisting with travel planning, itineraries and packing for family trips
• Coordinating with other household employees and service providers, including nannies, cleaners, gardeners, dog walkers and tradespeople, and relaying messages, instructions and updates on behalf of the family
• Coordinating practical appointments such as vet visits, home maintenance and other household services
• General household organisation and support with those everyday jobs that are easy to put off

A Note About Household Management:

A Household Manager is not a cleaner. While the role can include light housekeeping and household organisation, it is designed to provide broader family support and take responsibility for the many practical tasks involved in running a busy family home.

To complete these tasks to a high standard, Household Managers need dedicated time to focus on household management without being simultaneously responsible for full-time childcare.

If children require a nanny's full attention throughout the day, it may not be realistic for one person to provide both comprehensive childcare and effective household management at the same time. In these circumstances, it is recommended to schedule child-free hours specifically for household management, or to consider a separate Nanny and Household Manager if both roles need to be performed concurrently.

A Rural Nanny/Governess is a wonderful childcare option for families living on rural properties, farms or in regional areas who are looking for dedicated, professional support in their home

Our Rural Nanny/Governesses provide full-time childcare alongside educational support, helping children thrive in a rural lifestyle while giving parents greater flexibility and support with their day-to-day commitments.

The role can include caring for children, preparing meals, organising activities, supporting schoolwork and homeschooling, encouraging learning and development, and helping with children's routines and general organisation.

For families living rurally, a live-in arrangement can also be offered, with the nanny receiving a full-time nanny wage plus meals and accommodation.

This is not an au pair arrangement. Our Rural Nannies/Governesses are professional childcare providers who are employed and paid as nannies, while becoming a trusted and valued part of the family.

Rural Live-in Nanny

Mother's Helpers work alongside a parent in a tag-team style arrangement, offering warm, in-home support with the children and light household duties while the parent remains present and involved. They can cuddle and care for the baby while the parent showers, rests or catches up on sleep, keep older siblings happily entertained while attention is on the baby, prepare simple snacks and family meals, help with nappies and bottles, and step in with the everyday jobs that can quickly start to feel overwhelming.

Mother's Helpers are ideal for families who don't necessarily need a nanny working independently, but would love reliable extra support, friendly companionship and practical, hands-on help throughout the day from a trusted in-home childcare professional.

• Nanny in Training: 0–1.5 years experience: $30–35 /hr + superannuation (12%) + leave entitlements based on experience.

• Highly experienced: 4+ years $38–45 /hr + superannuation (12%) + leave entitlements based on experience.

Perfect for new and growing families who need extra support overnight. Professional Night Nannies provide experienced, nurturing newborn care so parents can enjoy much-needed rest while knowing their baby is safe, settled, and well cared for throughout the night.

Depending on your family's needs, a Night Nanny can assist with overnight feeds, settling, nappy changes, resettling, bottle preparation, and establishing a calm nighttime routine that supports healthy sleep habits for both baby and parents. 

Extra duties can include: 

• Bathing 
• Laundry assistance (if your baby is sleeping)
• Sterilizing bottles and baby related items
• Light duties

Whether occasional support is needed, a few nights each week, or more consistent overnight newborn care, a Night Nanny can ease the pressure of long nights and give parents the opportunity to fully sleep, recover and recharge.

Fixed Term Contracts $65-80 /hr + superannuation (12%)

A nanny share is a wonderful childcare option where two families share the same nanny, allowing the nanny to care for children from both families at the same time. This can be a more affordable alternative to hiring a nanny exclusively, while still providing the benefits of personalised, in-home care

Nanny share can be arranged between families who live close to one another, with care taking place at one family's home or alternating between both homes.

Benefits can include:

• Sharing the cost of a nanny between two families 
• Providing your child with a familiar playmate and social interaction.
• Personalised care in a home environment.
• A consistent nanny and routine across the week.
• The flexibility to create a schedule that works for both families.
• Building a lovely little community between families and children.
